#Final fantasy 7 pc remake Pc#
Now I'm not in game development, but that entire video featuring PC gameplay as early as 2020 makes it seem like SE has every intention of making a PC port and is something they've always expected to do and have been working towards. It's been a year and a half now for the vanilla and six months for Intergrade, so I'd imagine sales and marketing is figuring that anyone who wanted to play FF7R on PS4/5 has already bought it at this point and further exclusivity won't be generating many more sales.īiggest reason I'm hopeful for the Remake to be launched on PC is that on launch day, a thank you video was released from SE and all the game footage had the caption "Gameplay captured on PC", and that was back in April 2020. SE/Sony bundled in the extended contract with the release of Intergrade, so barring another DLC being released, there's no good time or reason to warrant further exclusivity. Can I run Final Fantasy 7 Remake on my PC Yes, you can.
Somehow, the launch of this game got delayed for many years but finally, it became a massive hit upon its release. That can of course be extended, but honestly I doubt it will. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is an action role-playing game and it is published by Square Enix. When Intergrade was released, there's a screen on the game launch trailer with a disclaimer it's only available on PS5 at least six months earlier than other platforms, so it will expire in early December. Well, we do know when the exclusivity contact expires. Not saying it won't happen, or that it won't happen soon, but the exclusivity agreement isn't/wasn't the only thing holding back a release on platform x. That's likely to eat into Square Enix's sales numbers a lot.Īlso, if Square Enix ports it to PC now, what options does it have to obtain an exclusivity agreement with Sony for part 2? Before that, I was pretty easily playing every jrpg I tried that was officially released on pc, and unofficial emulators also didn't have much trouble with them. Last time I upgraded mine was 8-9 years ago, for Starcraft 2. Most JRPGs aren't very demanding games graphics-wise, so a lot of gamers who mostly play JRPGs (like myself) haven't upgraded our graphics cards in a while. There is still very much a graphics card shortage and it's much worse than the ps5 shortage.
There's also the cost of marketing and advertising it, as well as finding the right spot in their release schedule.įf7r is likely to be pretty demanding on hardware, and that's going to limit its sales. Everyone who can play it will have one of those configurations in varying levels of wear.

With a ps4 or 5, there are 5(?) Hardware configurations. Especially for PC, there is a lot of testing to be done with the limitless hardware combinations it can have, in addition to adding a lot more graphics settings and thoroughly testing them. It's not automatically going to be put on all platforms the day the agreement expires.
The exclusivity agreement may have expired (no one knows except the companies themselves), but even if it has, porting a game to a new platform involves a lot of work.
